Smashbox Primer Review

I love Smashbox products! They are probably best known for their primers & they probably make some of the best primers. Primers are best used under a foundation and they increase its wear time! Also they help fill out pores and lines making your skin look flawless all day!

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer-  Its clear in colour, contains green tea, grape seed extract and vitamins A & E and is oil free. Best used under your foundation preferable a silicone based one and I find it best suited towards individuals with dry or mature skin. This is my favorite out of all the Smashbox Primers! However I only use this for special occasions as it truly makes my makeup last all night!! However sometimes it breaks me out a little the next day (one or two spots at the most) so i wouldn't use this every day. I repurchase this primer all the time!!

 

Smashbox Photo Finsh Light Primer- Best used if you have sensitive, acne prone, oily skin as its oil free and water based. This is best used under a water based foundation. This formula evens out skin tone, gives skin a matte finish and reduces pores.

 

 

 

 

Smashbox Photo Finish Colour Correcting Primer (Blend)- I find this to work well however i still find you need to use a colour corrector or even a concealer  and I don't know why but this formula broke me out bad.

 

Smashbox Photo Finish Colour Correcting Primer (Adjust)- I find this primer to work best with red skin (sun damaged) due to its green colour. However you may still have to use a concealer to tone down the redness but you won't need to use as much cause it does a pretty good job! Best used on mature skin may be red due to hormone changes or dry skins due to it being silicone based.

 

 

Smashbox Photo Finish Colour Correcting Primer (Balance)- This purple primer actually helps brighten dull or yellow skin, however it won't give you a luminous/dewy finish if that's what you were hoping for it to do. It just brightens you skin tone and does an amazing job at that. Its bested used for individuals with dry or mature skin again due to it being silicone based.

ST. Ives Fresh Skin Warming Scrub

This product is a warming scrub that contains 100% natural exfoliants and is dermatologist tested. Product is not tested on animals and doesn't contain parabens and phthalates.

It claims to heat up quickly when in contact with water and this heat helps to not only relax pores but also removes dry, dull skin and mildly cleansing pores of clogging oil & dirt.

St. Ives Fresh Skin Warming Scrub

This product did heat up when it came in contact with water however it doesn't stay warm for long at all (sensation goes within seconds). This product broke me out and caused my skin to look dry and dull.

Would I re-purchase this product again? No.

ST. Ives- Naturally Clear Apricot Scrub(Blemish Fighting)

This product is an oil free all natural exfoliator.Targeted at people who have acne-prone skin claims that it cleans pores and fight blemishes.

St. Ives Naturally Clear Apricot Scrub

Directions to use this product is to simply moisten your face with water and massage the product over your face. Rinse off making sure you avoid getting this product into your eyes. Best results use it 3 to 4 times a day.

I have combination skin type (semi-oily t zone and dry to normal cheeks) I also do get the occasional breakout caused certain ingredients in products and also hormones.

I used the entire tube of this scrub and honestly I don't like this product at all. It's supposed to "gently" clean pores however I had the opposite experience it felt pretty rough. This product also contains Salicylic Acid which is a beta hydroxy acid that's used to both treat and control acne. Instead of clearing my skin it broke my out not only that it made my cheeks really dry. This reaction is very common when use products with Salicylic Acid i just feel its too harsh of an ingredient for me personally.

Would I re-purchase this product again? The answer is simply No.

TK's Lashes Eyelash Extensions

TK's Lashes are a new concept to eyelash extensions. This product claims to makeup your eye lashes up to 300% longer. It eliminates the need for ordinary mascara and false eye lashes.

TK's Lashes are really good for individuals who have allergies to eye makeup and it's latex free. Ingredients:- Water, beeswax, carnauba wax, black iron oxide, nylon 12, stearic acid, emulsifying agent.

Directions to applying these are easy- Ensure your eyelashes are clean and mascara free. Apply TK's transparent gel to your lashes, then apply TK's fibres to the lashes and then follow by coating the fibres with the TK's transparent gel to set the lashes. The more gel and fibres you apply the longer your lashes will be (however I noticed after 3 times of repeating the process the lashes do start clumping together)

My Opinion:- This product does not add volume to your lashes however the product doesn't claim to nor does it curl your lashes, however to fix this problem I curl my lashes prior to application .This product is really easy to remove (hot water or eye makeup remover). The lashes are surprising soft to touch, safe to use if you wear contact lenses. Id say TK's lashes is one of the best products at lengthing your lashes.

On my Right eye I used TK's lashes and my Left I used a fasle lash strip (I made sure to use lashes that were really long and added no volume in order to compare the results fairly).

Skin Types

It's really important to know your skin type so that you can purchase the correct skin care and makeup.

There are Four main skin types:-

OILY

Some of the characteristics include- shiny appearance, coarse texture, enlarged pores, excessive sebum production and clogging of pores. On a positive note people with this skin type are less prone to wrinkles!

Water based skin products are usually best for this skin type and probably want a matte or semi matte finish foundation.

DRY

People with this skin type will have flaky skin, wrinkles do appear easily, tight pores, lacks luster and oils. In a positive note if you do have this skin type you are less likely to get blemishes.

Cream based skin products tend to be the best for this skin type and select foundations with a dewy finish. You want to avoid products that contain alcohol as this will dry your skin further.

COMBINATION

Combination of both dry and oily skin types. Most people have an oily t- zone and dry/normal everywhere else.

NORMAL

Individuals with this skin types are less likely to get any blemishes, even pores, even colour, normal oil low and good elasticity.

I tried the Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15. This is a liquid foundation and product states it has skin firming properties helps lift appearance of facial contours, provides sun protection and evens skin tone.

Best ways to apply this foundation:- Fingers, sponge, stippling or a buffing brush. This foundation was long lasting, gave a matte finish, pigmented and provides medium-full coverage deff a buildable foundation and didn't break me out.

This foundation is good for individuals with combination skin as its both water and silicone based. I think if you had a drier skin or mature skin and wanted that dewy glow then applying the Arbonne sheer glow highlighter under the foundation or mix it with the foundation. The sheer glow highlighter has a peach/pink undertone best suited for light to medium skin tones it contains no glitter it just gives your skin a natural dewy finish.

I also tried the Arbonne Makeup Primer, the primer was nice and helped my makeup last a bit longer. The main ingredient is Cyclopentasiloxane. This helps make you skin shiny without weighing it down, it also helps the product dries fast so skin won't feel greasy. It also improves the slip making the product both lighter and easier to rub in. I wouldn't recommended this primer to individuals with oily skin.

The Lip Polishes were amazing they were nicely pigmented and didn't feel sticky like a lot of lip glosses. They last a long time, even after eating although the colour disappears but a clear gloss remained.

This product is amazing, best product to keep tame those fly-aways!!! It doesn't leave your hair looking oily just adds a little shine and its very inexpensive.

I would definitely buy this product again, I hope they never discontinue this product.

2012 Cosmopolitan Model Search

I was invited by Cosmopolitan Model Managment to be an official judge at the Cosmopolitan Model Search for 2012. The event was held at Rockingham Shopping Centre.

The event consisted of 3 heats, the models would perform a catwalk on stage and compete for an international modelling contract. Congratulations to the winner Alannah Ettridge.It was a hard decision selecting the winner as all the girls were stunning!

Judging panel consisted of myself, The very beautiful award winning photographer Pauline Deas owner of Sublime Premier Imaging(located 15 Jecks Street, Rockingham wa 6168,http://www.sublimeimaging.com.au/).For the final heat we were joined by two gorgeous Miss Universe 2011 Finalists and a stunning 96 fm talk show host.

All models were dressed by the Rockingham Shopping Centre retailers.

For This Beach Wedding we went for a look that really complimented their skin tone, dress, flowers and chose eye makeup that made there gorgeous blue eyes sparkle. The makeup lasted all night despite it being a hot day 39 degrees!
